Getting to Know Woodberry: Berkeley Barnett

For Woodberry’s Berkeley Barnett, an interest in public affairs started long before she graduated college.

In high school, Berkeley was selected by a Type 1 diabetes advocacy organization to represent Texas on Capitol Hill. Years later she interned for the same organization, at which point she told her family, “DC is where I am meant to be.”  After graduating from Rhodes College, she worked on Capitol Hill before joining the team at Woodberry Associates.

In Woodberry’s Public Affairs division, Berkeley works on a range of policy topics – from health care to crypto currency to labor issues. A typical day finds her researching policy issues, tracking the status of state or federal legislation, coordinating speakers for Capitol Hill hearings, or planning educational activities for clients. She works with the Woodberry team to help clients define their policy priorities and then share them with policymakers and partners.

“I like seeing things get done from start to finish, seeing clients share the importance of an issue and then seeing change come from that,” Berkeley says. “It’s rewarding.”

Government affairs, public affairs and advocacy are all different spokes on the same wheel, Berkeley reflects, and she appreciates being able to work in each area.

Berkeley Barnett is an Associate in the Public Affairs division.
